This morning I decided to detail the engine in my Camaro...for no reason at all :D

I doubt it has ever been cleaned, it has 77,000 miles on it and I bought it when it had 63,000 miles. So I broke out the Simple Green, my collection of brushes, Stoner`s Trim Shine, Mother`s QD, Deep Crystal car wash, and the NXT.

These are the results: Total time about 2 hours.

Looks like you did an exceptional job

I have a `93 z28 that is in desperate need of an engine cleaning, but I always have to worry about the dang optispark.

Ahh yes...the optispark.

Wouldn`t want to get that too wet huh ;) There`s always aluminum foil...lots of it :D

Looks great!! It appears that your engine is pretty much stock? Any outside pics of the car?

The optispark is the LT1`s version of a distributor, located below the water pump. It is very susceptible (sp?) to water damage.

I thought about trying to cover it in foil, but it`s such a pain to get to, I don`t know if that`s a real option.

Damn looks good! Did you use the Stoner`s on all the plastic and rubber pieces? Did you have to wipe it on or just spray it on and let dry? Looks awesome!

I sprayed it on, let it soak for about a half hour. Then buffed all the plastic and wiped up any excess.

I think I have a natural knack for this kind of stuff ;)

I don`t think it`s possible to cover the whole thing....lol

And I wouldn`t take the chance with a non-vented one. :scared

Crimson -- looks awesome :)

looks good! Seems so odd to see a V6 and not a LT1!
