Painting Mirrors

Been meaning to take care of this problem, but not sure how to prep this mirror for paint, and what kind of paint to use. Here`s a far picture showing that ugly white spot where the paint flaked off the side mirror.

Here`s another. The base for the mirror is made out of fiberglass, not sure if that make a difference for prep and paint.
