help! scratch problem!

New to the forum and was hoping if anybody could help me with my dilemma. As you can see from the photo above, I wasn`t thinking clearly and used a dirty sponge to clean that section of the car. The picture isn`t from the greatest angle and that was the best I could do, but the scratches do not seem deep but looks like it messed up the paint`s finish. Will a good polish solve this problem or am I left with this hideous mark forever?

Can you feel any of the scratches by fingernail?



What have you tried to this point?

Working by hand... can`t feel any of the scratches by fingernail.. I was hoping that I could get some advice on what I should try first before I mess it up anymore then it is.

I have had good luck with 3M Fine Cut both by hand and PC. Should be able to find it at any good auto store.
