I am trying to decide on which backing plate, and pads to get for my PC and was hoping I could get some personal opinions on these products..

1)Meguiar`s 6.5" pads

2)Curved Edge Variable Contact 7.5"

3) Autopia`s dual action pads http://autopia-carcare.com/tpspadkitda.html

I orderd my PC which came with the 6" vented backing plate, so I think the 6.5" would be almost too small, what do u guys think.

Also has any one tried the flexible backing plates?

thanks for the inputs:up

I have always preferred the 6.5" pads for compounding and polishing work and a 7.5" finishing pad for wax/sealant application. I don`t really know what it is but the smaller pad always makes me feel like I have a little more control over the area that I am working on at the time. And during compounding/polishing, I am not interested in moving as fast as possible, I am interested in getting it done right. Then, when I move to the wax/sealant stage, I can slap on a nice, big pad to move quickly. I have a 6" backing plate, by the way.

As for brands, either Meguiar`s or Lake Country are the two I use.

Just my two cents, your mileage may vary.
