My new Mazda 3 should be arriving in the next few weeks and I was wondering which of the Zaino products you guys would recommend and what steps I should take when washing and detailing my car.

It also comes with leather/vinyl interior, so a product for that will be required as well. I want to have the products in hand so when I get my new car, I have everything I need and I`m familiar with the process I`m going to use.

Having said all that, I`m not looking to take 6-8 hours to completely wash and detail my car either. I`m looking for something I can use to take essentially 3 steps :

a) Wash

b) Shine & Wax

The Zaino line of products is readily available here in several of the shopping malls and was wondering if anyone with experience could provide any feedback on what steps they take and which products to use...

Thanks!!

Zaino`s website has detailed application instructions so if you follow them, you`ll be in good shape:

http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=Z&Category_Code=APPLICATION

As it says on the website, the basics are ZFX, Z2 or Z5 ( you decide), Z6, and Z7. Zaino`s leather care products, Z9 and Z10, are excellent. So is the Z16 tire dressing. So, 8 products will set you up perfectly.

1) Car Wash Z7 or other brand

2) clay w/ Zaino clay or other brand like mother`s or claymagic

(optional, polish w/ a light polish like 3M machine glaze or 1Z PP, etc)

3) Dawn wash + dry

4) Z6 the entire car

5) Z2 or Z5 with ZFX mixed in, 3 coats total

After the initial detail just wash with a sheepskin mit and regular car soap or the special Z7 soap, but that gets pricey

303 or Lexol products will be good for the interior

You are Lucky to have Zaino products available locally. Suggest you email Sal Zaino directly with your question (don`t tell him you are not willing to invest the time necessary):

zainobros@zainobros.com

But I`d Dawn wash, claybar, Zaino wash, and use ZFX and Z-2. Don`t forget to use protectant on the gaskets and weatherstripping and appropriate trim.

You`ll need ZFX, Z-2, Z-6, Z-7, Z-10, Z-16, Z-18. You shouldn`t need to use Z-5 before using Z-2 if there are no swirls or fine scratches on the car initially. But don`t bet on it. I`d get the Z-5 to have on hand. The same goes for Z-9. Don`t forget applicators and COTTON towels.

Check out zainostore.com and read their application instructions, FAQ`s, and tips and tricks.

HERE`S THE LECTURE:

If you are willing to spend the money to get a brand new car, for heaven`s sake invest the time to detail it correctly the first time. There ain`t but one "first time". You won`t regret it. And your new car will keep looking new. Besides, you`ll spend the time; when you first get the car ... or later while wishing you had done it day one. I`ll bet every detailer out there (professional or enthusiast) has regrets about the cars he didn`t spend the time on when he first brought them home, I surely do, and more than once.

Congratulations on your new car. I was just like you; I had the Zaino waiting for the car to be delivered. Once I got the car home I did the following steps:

1. Washed with Dawn.

2. Clayed with Zaino Clay Bar using Z-7 as the lubricant.

3. Washed Car again with Z-7.

4. Applied a coat of Z-2

5. Sprayed Z-6 before next coat

6. Applied a coat of Z-5

7. Sprayed Z-6 before next coat

8. Applied another coat of Z-2

9. Finished with another coat ofZ-6

Oh yeah while the multiple lays of Zaino were drying, I hit the interior with Z-9 and Z-10.
