This is not a car detailing question, but I figure one of you guys (maybe people with kids) would have run into this.

We had a power outage last night, and had to use candles. Long story short, wife drips some paraffin wax onto the carpet in the bedroom carrying it around. Getting it off the lino in the bathroom was not an issue, but how do I get it off the carpet?

Get a freeze can ( Hardware store) and spray it on, This will make the wax hard and brittle and makes them come out easy.:idea

I have used that before for gum (I was a janitor), but will this work for paraffin which is melted into the fabric of the carpet?

I might not have this right .. BUT .. if I remember right .. take a cotton cloth and lay it on the wax then use an iron and iron the area .. the heat will melt the wax and the cloth will lift it.

I use an old brown paper bag and a heated iron. Tear the bag into 6 or 8" squares....heat up the iron in the house...unplug it and lay the brown paper on the wax...lay the iron on the paper for about 10 seconds....remove iron and paper..lay down a NEW piece of paper..repeat..keep repeating till no wet wax appears through the paper...then Naptha...great trick

Thanks for all the replies guys. I didn`t know about the Naptha, but several people have told me about the iron thing now. Didn`t get a chance to try it last night, but I`ll do it tonight. :bow
