hi all,

long time zaino user here

new vette 2004 magnetic red.

had 2 small scratches (which i lightly removed using (by hand) 3m perfect-it2 #05928 and it removed them but left a very light haze which i am sure is from product not getting any heat.

will 3m swirl remover #39009 remove this haze?.

these are 2 seperate areas one aprox 2" x 2".

the other maybe 2" by 6".

one coat of zaino z5 and then z2 hides them in sunlight and under my flourescant lights in garage (daylight bulbs 4` 5000k-#92 on color).

after having 5 camaro ss` over the years i never ever touched with agressive stuff always taking great care not to put marks in paint during any cleaning steps...i just had to start on a $52k car...urgh....

thanx in advance :)

I am not familiar with 3ms products but it sounds like you just need to step down a notch and finish with a less abrasive polish...if 3m`s SMR is like FP(i use menzerna/megs) it should do the trick. I seem to recall the 3m SMR is a filler/non-abrasive...but I could be wrong.

Edit* That hazing might be normal if the polish you started with is a "heavy-cut".

thats correct the 05928 is a heavier abrasive.

i probably should have started with the smr (39009 is mildly abrasive. at this point just trying to remove haze no more than that.

rainy weather keeping me from a re-wash and re-try...actaully going to rain for next week according to weather :(

any fillers will be removed after i am done with an alcohol wipe prior to re-zainoing spot.

the couple of scratches are gone :)

now i need to bring glossy finish back so a filler polish isn`t going to do much but 3smr does have a mild abrasive.

the magnetic red is an extra cost tinted top coat from gm and is an awesome color, i can`t get a buffer in the 2 small spots as its next to corvette emblem on nose.

thanx

Keep us posted! maybe tape up the emblem so you dont have to worry about bumping it-just a thought.
