Very high bond tape question?

I have stainless steel bumper letters on my car and I have just taken them off to respray the bumper. What kind of tape can I use to apply the letters on again? Bear in mind, these are not stickers, but actual stainless steel so they are heavier than you would think. When I initially purchased the letters, they came pretaped so I dont know what kind to use. Also, what is the best method of getting removing the old tape on the letters? Alcohol and a razor or maybe a hairdryer? Thanks

I would try something like Goo Gone or 3M adhesive remover on the pieces, but I`m not sure what to use to re-attach them.



Mabye see if you can find some high strength glue for reattaching body trim. I also understand that 3M makes a very strong double sided tape (non-foam backed) too.
