Have a whole bottle of NXT left from summer and was wondering if anyone has tried applying it over SG. I`ve read that carnuba is definitely the way to go but was just wondering if anyone has tried this combo.

Also read somewhere that carnuba can be applied over the NXT for improved results, any thoughts on this?

NXT has abrasives in it. It has to in order to make good on the claim that it "eliminates" fine swirls. To apply that on top of SG would probably remove the SG.

It doesn`t have any abrasives. It has very mild cleaners....IMO it wouldn`t completely remove what`s under it, just some of it.

Autopia seems to be down....again. There were discussions on this here at DC, but they got lost when we lost a few months of posts during an upgrade. The threads on Autopia talk about the abrasives. I have seen the swirl removing potential of NXT first hand. Something is removing swirls when I use it. If its not the NXT that is removing the swirls, then what is it? Either way, I don`t think that using NXT on top of SG is the best idea. NXT is a good base product, but its not really a topper. Appearance wise I like SG better than NXT, so I don`t really suggest topping a product that looks great with a product that doesn`t look as good. That`s just my view on it. Someone else might like NXT better than SG. :dunno

I don`t know. Maybe it`s filling them. Mike Phillips himself clarified this....NXT contains no abrasives, just mild cleaners to ensure proper bonding to the paint`s surface.

Once Autopia is back online you`ll have to show me the thread where he said that. I seem to recall threads stating the opposite. NXT does have a lot of fillers in it, but it also has micro abrasives. I AIOed the car after NXT and swirls were still gone. The purpose of the test was to see what kind of swirl removing power it has. I am sure I read on Autopia that it does have abrasives in it.

Okay, I`ll take your word for it. I don`t catch every thread on there so I could be wrong.

No, Im running with Jngrbrdman on this one. There was a real bun-fight on Autopia about this after somebody ( sorry cant recall exactly ) did a pen marker test on their washing machine. End point was the NXT stripped the line clean and the questions was asked so Mike Phillips went to ask his chemists and cxame back saying that here were specialised cleaners in it ( both abrasive and chemical ). Hence why you get some swirl removal and Megs ( MP ) recommends using a polishing pad to apply NXT.
