I`m going to detail an early 80`s Chyrsler this weekend. It has a partial (half) vinyl roof. Never detailed a vinyl roof before.
How`s this?
Scrub with Woolite solution with soft brush
let dry, then
Wipe with Meg #40 Vinyl and Rubber Cleaner

If you`ve seen my gallery, you`ll know I have two 1975 Jaguars with vinyl roofs. I can`t claim to be any kind of expert on caring for the vinyl, but here`s what I do:
Wash: At first, I tried 303`s vinyl-top cleaner, but I really couldn`t see that it was anything special. So since then, I`ve just used my Zaino car wash. And, like you suggested, I do scrub it with a soft-bristle brush.
Dry with waffleweave or whatever.
Dressing: I just use 303, applied with a boring foam applicator.

Thanks, Lynn:
I`ll give that a try.
