What is the gel coat on? Boat? Bike? Body Kit? What is the condition of the gel coat?
You could try NXT tech wax, report back.

1966 Shelby cobra kit car. I used flagship marine wax with good results. Gelcoat in fairly good shape.Would swirl remover for auto work on gelcoat or just stay with marine products.
