I didn`t come across many old threads on feedback on the flexible backing plate. Is it worth the extra $. For a rotary, I can see the advantages of it.

On a DA, I`m curious to see if it will cause too much vibration. I`ll be using it on my Festool DA. I currently just use the stock plate with 7.5" pads.

Dunno if your machine will behave the way my PC did, but I actually got LESS vibration with the flex plate than with the regular 6" one. That was with the 6" counterweight. But I haven`t tried it with the 7.5" pads yet, they might be a bit big for it. And FWIW, the plates don`t really FLEX all that much. The bigger ones (that you`d use on a rotary) flex more than the smaller ones that are used on the PC. Honestly, I`m not sure there`s any really compelling reason to switch to one. *I* like mine, but I never had a problem with the regular plates either.
