I know red is susceptible to fading, but is it inevitable?

Or, if you maintain red paint and don’t let oxidation form will it stay bright? Is oxidation the only culprit of fading? I’m talking about a time frame of 10-15 years down the road.

No color will fade if you properly maintain it.

It just needs to be cared for regularly and always protected.

It helps if you keep your car garaged the majority of the time. A friend of mine drives a 1990 911 and it still looks great. He parks in the hospital garage and I think it makes a difference.

Single stage red paint is notorious for fading if you don`t stay on top of it. Even under clear coats, the base coat will fade slightly but as long as the clear is intact, most people won`t notice the slight color change

What part does oxidation have to do with fading?

Does oxidation = fading, or is it just a result of UV rays diminishing pigment?
