View Full Version : Question for the Sealent people...

Hi all. My wife just got a new car and its like a dark silver color. I am pretty sure that you wont be able to get any depth and the like out of silver like I do on my black mustang so what I was thinking maybe a sealent would be good for it with a carnuba topper. I have always been a glaze/carnuba person for the black because of the awesome shine and depth wet look it adds. But what I am thinking is this silver isnt going to able to do that and maybe the best thing for it would be to go the sealent route for the plastic look and maybe top with a carnuba for a little bit of depth. Do you think this is possible the best solution for this color or do you think I could acheive great results with the combo on black. My black combo is Vanilla Moose topped with Trade Secret.

Also since I have a limited knowledge on sealents could you give some incite to these:

Klasse AIO/SG

UPC/UPP

ProPolish/EX

Zaino (but it would have to be done outside)

well, I would suggest either PUPP or Poorboy`s EX. I used the EX on my silver VW a few months ago and the results were 1st class and perhaps had the best result of any product I have tried on that car....and I`ve tried a lot!

I`d have to agree with Tom. Either product looks great on silver! EX definitely gets the `ease of use` edge since there is no 1 hour wait for it to cure before wiping off.

AIO + UPP on silver:

I wouldn`t rule out AIO + SG either!

This is the closest to silver I have of Poorboy`s PwC and EX on silver:

Zaino will beat pretty much everything when it comes to durability, slickness, and reflectivity. On silver its totally killer.

Klasse is also very popular on light and metallic colored cars. AIO topped with carnauba is a well known and time tested combo. Since you have a wax product, you could get some AIO and try the combo. It would be easy to do and not be expensive.

I tried Poorboys EX on several different cars and colors and was disappointed in it on everything. But who knows, maybe it does great on silver.

My wife`s silver `01 VW GTI VR6 simply shimmers with the Klasse Twins and P21S.

I reapply the P21S every 4 weeks.

I can not imagine anything better.

PS I`ve been playing with Meg`s NXT sealant on about 5 cars now. It is quite nice. Maybe equal to the twins! Time will tell.

On silver, I get surprisingly good depth with both BFII and P UPP. I don`t even bother topping them.

If you`re not thrilled by the sealant-look, topping with a good "depth enhancing" carnauba would help. My XJS is a "metallic gray" sort of darkish silver, and Souveran seems to give it more depth than Trade Secret, Meg`s #16, or P21S.

One more vote for Zaino. Apply Z1, then Z2 (or Z5) over that, let it dry for approx. 20 minutes, and remove.

I agree with Accumulator......Sometimes I will top though with some S100.......Hands down, especially on anything dark...
