View Full Version : orange pad for both 3m compound & SMR ?

Will be applying 3M Fine Cut Compound then 3M SMR (same job) , can I use my orange pad for both apps ?

Do not use the same pad for doing both polishes. If anything, I would have a second pad handy for doing the smr. You can mix and match if you want, but thats only if you have washed off the former product on the pad, then it is safe to use.

Montoya- Yeah, it really IS better to err on the side of caution here, and have separate, dedicated pads. Those two products are actually (IMO) VERY different. Different types and levels of abrasives. Any leftover abrasive from the FC would REALLY defeat the purpose of the SMR. Trying to save money on pads by using fewer of them is usually false economy.

Maybe you could find some at an autobody/paint supply place. Many of them have Meguiar`s pads (and others) in stock.

couldn`t find any detailer or detail supplies. I`m thinking of using my white foam pad for 3M fine Cut and my orange pad for 3M SMR. I think that should do for now ?
