What`s the best tape to use to mask off trim/moldings? I don`t want anything that will leave a residue.

3M Blue painters tape. It`s available at most home improvement centers and hardware stores.

Thanks. I`ll pick some up this afternoon. It will really come in handy when i`m polishing with my PC.

Some stores carry a privately-branded 7-day release tape, too . . . I think I`ve bought "Ace" (maybe it was "Tru-Valu") brand for less than equivalent 3M tape, and some from Wal-Mart that I don`t recall the brand name of, but it was much, much cheaper than 3M.

IMO, if you were actually painting something and needed a tape that could sit for a week and not deteriorate and leave residue, I`d spring for 3M. For detailing, since I just need it to not leave residue and release easily after a few hours, knock-off brands will do.

P.S. FYI, the knockoff-brands of tapes were blue, just like the equivalent 3M tape.
