the light beige belts in my 91 Honda are dirty and sort of smelly. What is a good way to clean them?

Burn them and then use large rubber bands in their place :)

OK, for real now.....pull the belts all the way out and use something at the top to clamp them, like a clothes pin or tape. Now use a carpet and fabric pre-spot cleaner, like the one by "303" and let it dwell for about 10 to 15 minutes.

From thi spoint you can scrub them and use a towel to wipe them dry or use a steam vapor cleaner to really clean them to as new condition.

Either way you clean them the drying process is important. Make sure they are completly dry before allowing them to return to their holding area and do not allow them to dry in the sun.

Post some pics and I hope this helps.

I had a buddy who pulled the belts out all the way, closed the door, and used a pressure washer to spray them clean. They came out looking beautiful. Todd

there are steam vapor cleaners in sale at pep Boys. Are they worth it? or are they so specialized that I might use it only once a year? I do not detail professionally...

Has anyone given any thought to the fact that the belt fibers may begin to weaken and `break down` from the cleaning process?
