Thanks for any advice.

I have been using clay, SMR, Z5, Z2 on my car for 2 years now, ready for a change. I have a 02 Dark Blue/Black metallic Grand Prix.

This is the new routine I want to try:

Clay

SMR

Klasse AIO

P21S or Pinacle Souveran

Question I have is, can I use SMR in between clay and Klasse? And are all these products compatible? I could really use a tip on what quick detail and soap to buy.

Thanks

Or should I just try the Menzerna polish instead of SMR?

I like menzerna FP better than SMR. So if you are looking to buy or already have it by all means the menzerna. If you do use menzerna, I recommend using a PC. Other than choosing the polish to use, your method looks good.

I would go the menzerna final polish since smr just fills more than abrades the finish. As for everything else, looks like a great setup.

Thanks, think I`ll try the Menzerna. I will be using my PC for the job. Can`t wait to try it.

Yup, M`s FP with a fine polishing pad on a PC at #6 gives outstanding results.

Sweet, can`t wait. Now been looking around, and the most affordable good wax for this routine looks to be P21S. So I`ll be using that, just need a good QD and Soap. Thanks agian for the posts.

If you used SMR between Clay and ZR one of the following prolly happened,

1) If you Dawn washed the SMR went with it and most of it was a wasted effort.

2) If you didn`t Dawn wash the SMR could have affected the Zaino because Zaino doesn`t like oils or fillers inder it.

I would Dawn wash first, SMR, then use Z7 and carefully wash the car, then Z6, and Z5. Worked fine.

I don`t think that will do it .. Z7 I don`t think will remove the oils etc from the SMR

I know that`s there`s speculation that Z7 does not remove the oils left over from the SMR but I`m not convinced that`s the case. I have repeatedly gone with Z7 washing after using SMR and have not `noticed` any problems, neither seen nor recognized any oils, or bonding issues with the Z5.

I am making that assumption based on what the Zaino instructions say. I am pretty sure if the Z7 would remove the oils.fillers etc to aid in the bonding Sal would be pushing the Z7 and not suggesting Dawn etc.

How do you gauge if the Z5 bonded or not?

I gauge it by how well it looks, beads water, feels. Either way, it these delicate steps and tedious preparations that are helping make the decision to try something new.

I`m pretty happy with Zaino, looks good, lasts long but... spendy, limited distrobution, tedious steps, are too much.

I`ll save the Zaino for my 67 Mustang Fastback if I ever finish restoring it! You could be right, and perhaps my routine was flawed. Either way, I am excited to order the new supplies and try sealant with wax.
