I have inherited a black car that has improper use of 3M swirl remover. I don`t know if any clear coat is left ? The black is now "grey ish" in colour.

How can I re-surrect this finish ? The only thing I have is Zaino, but I think this is gone beyond Zaino`ng ?

What can be done now ? I do have use of a PC.

what stage can I start applying the zaino ?

thanks

I`d make sure the surface is absolutely clean. Clay, Isopropyl alcohol (50/50), maybe some Klasse AIO.

Sounds like the clear is compromised, but we don`t really have enough info to make that call. SMR is pretty harmless stuff, unless used over and over...

a black car turned grey?!

How old is this car? This is on original paint? I dont see how 3m smr can do that... The polish itself is grey (for dark cars). You are certain that the grey is not leftover polish residue that wasn`t removed?

Sounds like the paint is heavily oxidized. Remove the oxidation with AIO or a Fine Cut polish 3M FCRC, DACP, etc.

Could be clearcoat failure or heavy conamination though too.

What are the specs on the car? make, year, etc...
