For those of you that were contributing to my Collinite thread here: http://www.autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30444&perpage=18&pagenumber=1

And those of you that weren`t here are the latest pics of my car detailed with DACP and a yellow pad (to remove some marring on the trunk lid and rear bumper caused by someone brushing up against the car over Thanksgiving) GEPC with a white pad, EX applied by PC with a grey pad, and one coat of Collinite 476s applied by PC with a grey pad. I plan to at least do one more coat of the 476 (I would have today but I was out of towels!) then may top with S100.

The pictures aren`t as sharp as some, my one megapixel digicam is showing its age. I plan to give my fiance a 5 MP one for christmas (shhh), I`ll enjoy that too ;)

This is just an overall shot I always take of the car after a detail:

This is a right rear quarter shot. I was trying to capture the way the sun creates a burst of red on this color. The Collinite had the interesting effect of bringing out the gold flake in the paint, so under parking lot discharge lighting it has a real bronze tint that the EX didnt give it. Very cool.

This is a reflection shot of me from the hood. Never done one, just thought I should ;)

This is the same shot, just this time with a flash. The flash was an accident but I like how it shows the way this color explodes when light hits it.

Very nice!

I have no more concerns about applying this to my daily driver :)

Thanks for the pics (not many circulating around this site).. Nice to see what collinite actually looks like --although I understand it will look different if ex is not used before.

Any pictures of its famous beading?

looks good, if I hadn`t already spent a whole butt load of cash on towels, waxes, and polishes I would get some. But I`ll wait...Your ES300 looks really good.

I don`t feel EX is a requirement. Here is a shot of 845 last year.

Different car, but a little better shot (http://www.autopia.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1931&papass=&sort=1)

Steve, awesome job. The paint, even though on a 1 mp cam :D, looks clean and sharp. No swirls that I can see and plenty of reflections.

And for the car, just plain sweeeeeeeet. The old ES300`s were so-so and arguably Camry`s with nice lights and body panels, but now it really stands away. My friend`s father has one and he said it is just such a pleasure to drive.

Nice work again!

Thanks guys!

Actually I saw zero difference when applying the 476 over the EX and GEPC on a panel and just 476 over GEPC on an adjacent panel. They looked exactly the same. In fact if I did it over again I probably wouldn`t bother with the EX underneath. I compared both panel right next to panel and they looked 100% identical.

GSR- Thanks, I love the car and the looks grow on me more every day. Originally I felt the headlights were too big and wanted silver because it hid them, but now I think they`re one of the best parts of the car. Its a beauty to drive, my dad has a brand new 04 LS430 and I dont see how it drives $30,000 better. The car really makes commuting a bearable experience.

I`ll take the camera with me the first day it rains and take pics of the beading :xyxthumbs

Excellent decision. That color is really something. Lexus paint is hard to beat, especially sub $40,000. This puts my Accord to shame. Heh.

Oh, and your dad should have bought a 911. :p But I understand how him parting with "his" New Beetle would be emotional for him. HA! Actually, I just remember how he always said he wanted a Porsche.

That`s a really sweet looking combination. Great color on the ES, BTW! :up

Keep us posted on the durability and like Quickstrike requested, beading pics!

On all the cars I detail for the winter, after the prep, I top with Insulator Wax. My clients call me a say they love when it rains because when they pull in the garage, the car is dry!
