I know that when waxing by hand you should go back and forth but what i am wandering is should you do a 2 to 3 foot square and work the product till its dry like you do with a pc or should you just kind of back and forth it on and let it dry then wipe off?
I am new to this and have basically just smearing it on back and forth with very little pressure and letting it dry and then buffing it off.

It depends. With S100 or either of the Pinnacle waxes, you apply to a single section then wipe off immediately. #26 works best if you apply it to the whole car then go back and start wiping off the excess. Sealants usually need to haze and dry for 10-60 minutes, depending on the product.

yeah scott i made that mistake with p21s i let it dry and practically needed a chisel to get it off.
I normally use megs gold class topped with p21s but am looking for some new stuff to try in the spring.

You dont need to work the wax like you do a cleaner or a polish. Since it doesnt have any abrasives or cleaners, working it into the paint is just wasted effort.

Sp basically if its a cleaner/polish you work it in but if its a carnuba you just wipe it on let dry and then buff off?
