Anyone have recomendations for removing superglue from the painted surface of the car. Someone has come to me after a failed attempt in reattaching a logo. In any event, the paint has two spots (buckshot size) with minor smearing.

Would an abrasive cleaner work on this or perhaps wet-sanding?

I am going to say wetsanding will be your best try. BUT, I will also bet that superglue ruined the clearcoat cause that stuff is powerfull.

Acetone or 3M Adhesive remover.

White968,

Acetone, is that the same thing as finger nail polish remover? Using this, do I risk major issue with the paint?

~One man’s opinion~

I go with the 3M product only because it’s work on most things for me, or wet sanding, I’m all for using products/methods made/designed for automotive use. I’m not a chemist but I’m almost certain Acetone will remove clear coat and more if it’s left on for any length of time (I’m tempted to say “Superglue, what was he thinking†but I won’t)

I`d call the company and see what they have to say about it. Who knows, maybe they have a solution that would be paint friendly.
