Autoglym started in 1960
Turtle Wax been around for 50 years
One Grand started in 1933
Meguiars been around for 100 years
I think Autoglym has remained with the same basic line up during their history.

Meguiars if not Simoniz or Blue Coral

Simonize came out in 1910. It was used to make the varnish that they used on cars to last longer. If the varnish was dull you would have to use a product called rottenstone, it was a very fine abrasive that would clean and polish the varnish, then you would follow with Simonize paste wax.

I`m pretty sure it is Meguiars. They`ve been around since 1903. If I remember right, they started off making furniture polish and in fact, still make it. I`ve seen it at my Meguiars distributer.

Didn`t Zymol use to make stuff way back when for carriages?...I thought I read that somewhere..as for dates I have no clue.

"It was European coachbuilders that first applied coatings of animal fats and wax to protect the custom paint on their horse-drawn carriages. This tradition has endured over 100 years and is still a great way to protect the paint on modern-day coaches."-DavidB
This was a quote I found on the LEARN button under wax/sealants.
I think this was in referance to zymol.

I used Simonize(40s) for a few years before Autoglym(60s)
scottabir. That is a Zymol reference, not sure if they are European coachbulders they refer to or how long they`ve been around.

I would imagine SC Johnson floor wax (yes people did use ut as a car wax).
Hey, this is a good question!
Someone want to ask Mike Phillips? He seems really knowledgable. He`d be a bit biased though! :D Kind of like asking an American and a Soviet during the cold war who invented what first. ;)
