Has anyone tried a "Rug Doctor" rental carpet extractor that you can rent through Walmart/Safeway etc? You have to supply hot water (does not heat it for you) so that is a drawback. One review on e-opinions sounds promising.

I`ve used them in my house many times because it so much cheaper than paying someone to do it professionally. They are pretty easy to use- I assume this is for interior carpet. It should do a good job, but don`t expect it to come out magically, you might want to try a good spot remover or carpet cleaner along with them.
