recently used meguiars fine and medium cut cleaner- seemed ok in the beginning after applying by hang using terry cloth towel..but after washing a cleaning, i notice that the clear coat now has NEW scratches in the up and down direction that i was applying the cut cleaners!!!! WTF?!!? Is this normal? I don`t think so...

HOw can i get rid of these `new` scratches now?

thanks!

Those cleaners are very difficult to use by hand, because they were originally designed for use with a rotary. Next time, you might want to try DACP instead.

But don`t panic. Some #9 swirl mark remover will remove those scratches. Go in the same direction, not against them.

get a PC! :D. Really, get a PC. Most peeps only use DACP and #9 by hand, but usually with little success.

Use the fine cut with a PC, then move up if the scratches are still there.

is #9 part of the Meguiars line too? And how expensive is a PC?

Sorry for being a newbie- what`s DACP?

Yes, #9 is. Mirror Glaze line, same as fine and medium cut.

PC is just over $100, but then you need pads and a backing plate. I think Coastal Tools has a kit for under $150.

You can use #9 and DACP by hand, but as gnahc79 said, it`s not as effective, and will take a lot of elbow grease.

Dual Action cleaner polish. #83 I think. You can check on the acronyms link on the home page.

100% cotton terry towel, foam pad, and MF all work well. Most important is that it`s insanely clean. :xyxthumbs

You`ll get a little more cutting power with cotton terry, so you may want to use a progression to get a perfect finish...ie, DACP with cotton, and #9 with foam.

:scared about the causing new scratches

I know how it feels. Whatever you do, do not use the microfiber cloths that come in CMA`s Menzerna kit to apply a polish or scratch remover, this is what caused more scratches for me. I`ll use them for the interior or inside the wheels or something. I`m too paranoid to consider using them to buff off polish now.AIO to the rescue! :)
