I just got the mother`s claybar kit (QD + bar + wax)

I was thinking since I used to wax my car a lot, like once every two months, there`d be lots of wax on teh paint, should I dawn wash my car before clay barring it?

Yeah, that would be a good idea.

I always wash with dawn before claybaring. Then I mix a mild solution of dawn and water to put in a spray bottle as a lubricant for the clay.

92 e30 cabrio- Welcome to Autopia! Once you`ve done a thorough claying, getting the stuff that`s currently UNDER your wax, you can then subsequently spot-clay, or even clay the whole vehicle, WITHOUT stripping the wax next time. The (new) contaminants will be on/in your wax.

As Accumulator`s suggesting, you may not want to do what Guy`s recommending for every clay session. Dawn will strip off glazes and carnauba waxes.

And, hey Accumulator! While washing the coupe today, I did your spot-claying trick. Worked very well. :up Thanks for the tip.

I clay only every spring and want to remove all I can. Should have explained my self better.

My pleasure, but when *YOU* say "the coupe" these days I have a 1 in 3 chance of guessing correctly :D Maybe the white one?
