After several months of seemingly good, but short-of-the-mark
attempts to make paint look better via PC, I`ve finally gone
to the darkside, and got a rotary. Since I did not have any
other cars available to me at the time, I decided to play a
very risky game, and redo my father`s car (aka, the Gunship),
and his daily driver an 87 POS model Taurus.

Before going buckwild with on the gunship, I
experimented on the taurus with the HT stuff.

and a wool bonnet.

Emboldened by my success with the HT on the decklid,
I got cocky and tested my luck on the hood. I think the
hood looks ok in this pick, but I did manage to burn a spot.
Can`t really see it well, but it`s there. Tht`a what happens
when you have short arms, and not enough common
sense.

After a quick learnin` with the rotary, I felt i was ready
to face the gunship.

During my initial work a few weeks ago, I used a combo of
PB, Menzerna, and Meguiar`s stuff on the car. My next plan
was to play around with some ssr1 and VM. After chatting
with Anthony Orosco (thanks dude), I decided to give the Hi
Temp stuff a try. Sorry, I don`t have any sunlight shots, but
truth is, the paint was well beyond what I could do. In
certain sections, the orange peel is so thick, it borders on
the ridiculous. And since this was my second tryout with Hi
Temp stuff and a rotary on my dad`s garage queen, I decided
to keep it simple, and not push my luck.

Hood just before sunset. Treated with Hi Temp LC, FPII,
and Hi Temp PPG

The ridiculously thick metallic flake. There was even flake
in the clearcoat, which maded things even more interesting.
Treated with FPII only, and then Hi Temp PPG (the odd
flash is me trying to get a reflection shot)

q-panel at just before sunset. During the last restore, a
portion of the panel had to be replaced with sheet metal we
had laying about in the shop. The metal was heated, beaten
into shape (no access to an english wheel), and then
welded onto the remaining sections towards the door and
wheelwell. The guy that did the work was about 70 years old at the time. He learned the trade with my father. Really
masterful man with a hammer, dolly and a torch. he retired
from autobody repair, and this world shortly after working on
this car. RIP Albert :(
