Well, here is the story....

My wife had a 2001 QX4 with 16k miles on it. Thanks to Autopia, it looks great. However, after 2003, they will not be making it any more. So we called the local dealer to see if we could get a good deal, not put much money into it, and keep our payments the same (or close). Needless to say, they did it for us. Not much changed on the car, except for the interior, which I think was a huge improvement. Here are some pics...

So, then we went to the local Mercedes dealer...

I went in to the dealer to see about trading in my 2002 black C240 for a silver `03, and came out with this 2004! It`s a C230K Sport with C2, cd changer, heated seats, etc.

yeah, I had to put a little money into it, but still a good choice all around!

Sorry for the crappy pics! These were after the quick wash after bringing it home...

What a deal too!

What really made me feel good about the whole process, was when they appraised both cars. When I was at the Infiniti dealer, they thought our car was the NEW one, not the trade-in. The guy said "I don`t even have to detail it, it is detailed". Also, at the Mercedes dealer, they guy said "I have problems keeping the new black cars looking like this". Thanks all of you for your advice and information that made these cars look so good and help my resale value!!!! It felt great to hear that from a dealer. It also felt good to be a part of this community. I immediately told them what I had done to them, and about Autopia!

No they don`t look "crappy". They look good and so do the cars.

Great job on them both. :xyxthumbs And I agree with you, don`t know how my black car would look today if not for the people here at Autopia.

Take care........V :wavey

milani,

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am new to detailing (March 2003) and I was very much encouraged by your story of having been part of autopia.org and having gained something from the community.

QX4s are great I once detailed one that was like Seafoam Green type color I hated it at first but loved it by the end of the day. Love the redesigned interior as well.

Congratulations on the new cars!

Do you like the 2003 steering wheel compared to the 2001 on the QX4? How does it feel? Since the 2001 had wood that went all the way around on the top and bottom.

So far, I have only driven it during the test drive. I don`t really hold the wheel where the wood was on the 01, so it does not bother me much. However, I still think it feels ok. It reminds me of the replacement Benz steering wheel. I like the looks of the new interior much better than the older one. The chrome emblem on the wheel looks cool!
