I got this from a different forum an was wondering if you guys could look thru it, cause I`m not sure if it`s accurate.. He said he got it from here.

But some of it is wrong, like 3M Perfect it III Machine Glaze, I thought this thing was as aggressive as DACP if not more, yet on this list it`s only listed as 2

Just did the trunk of my SC430 with 3M PIII-MG with PC and White pad. Did remove a good amount of swirls, but not as much as if I used DACP under same situation. The 3M does polish out very well. I then tried some Menzerna FP with Grey pad to bring up a bit more. Not bad work.

Here`s a shot of the SC430, yes it`s not up close and it`s outside as opposed to inside with metal halide lights.

My SC430 After 3M-PIII MG/Menz-FP: Zaino (http://www.autopia.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=3583&papass=&sort=1)

Still needs more work as the dealer really swirled it. Local detailer thinks that the swirls are the sheet metal/paint combo... NOT. Ran away fast!

People forget that a PC does not get as hot as a rotory, which some of these products are for, so the reaction time is diminished and it DOES take more time with a PC.

Anyway, happy detailing!

That list came from another thread on Autopia. It was posted by a member, Brett, who has three posts to date. He was attempting to assemble a list based on what he had read here. This list is hardly definitive and contains errors, as it was simply a compilation list from one individual member`s perspective.

Hey, at least he took a stab at it. :up

Perhaps...someday a generally accepted list will be compiled.

There are those that have volunteered.

Our story so far ...

The thread (http://www.autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18913&highlight=Abrasive+AND+levels+AND+swirl+AND+remove rs) mentioned above also has a pretty good list of the relative abrasiveness of Mequiar`s products.

Also, here is a pretty good thread (http://www.autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14700) on the relative abrasiveness of 3M products, based on a member`s correspondence with a 3M rep.

Needless to say, it is a lot easier to establish a scale for a single manufacturer ...
