I have used s100 on a black denali and a black cl-s a few months back but yesterday on the same black denali and a black cl 500 the s100 seemed to be streaking..

I think this means its not hazed yet?? I dunno how long to wait before I start to buff it off.

Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks Guys.

when I used S100, I would apply to a section, half the hood, a door, the trunk lid and then immedietly remove. No problems with it streaking. . .

Probably using too much. Or you could be using it on a surface that is too warm. That happens sometimes. If your towels aren`t clean then it can cause streaking too. Its not always the products fault I don`t think. I`ve never had a problem with S100 streaking.

it streaked on the hood but not on the roof, prolly cause of the heat??? thats my guess, i guess i`ll do the hood last then...

It`s better not to use most waxes on hot paint, and you don`t have to wait very long before buffing. By the time you`ve done waxing a small section you can wipe it off. Has the surface been pre-cleaned with anything or prepped in some way?

Volunteering information really helps sometimes.

I have noticed that S100 works best when the surface is cool to the touch. It wipes off easier. When the surface is warm or hot you have to wait longer to buff off....Andrew

I think 4DSC hit the nail on the head. Carnubas will streak when applied over surfaces that are not properly prepped. Also, residual engine heat can cause some streaking too.

maybe i need to strip the wax before i wax/polish??

You may need to use something stronger initially if the paint hasn`t been deep cleaned in a while. It may have been simply that you used too much product.

No, a polish stronger than S100 SEC, something along the lines of Meguiars #9 that you would use first.

oh ok, the SEC was very easy to apply and got some of the scrathes and swirls out, its a great product..

scottwax,

only the hood was streaking, the roof of the car was fine.

Never used the S100 but with every other wax I have used streaks have been caused by...

1.) Using too much wax - Use less or even apply with a machine to spread it out better.

2.) Towels not clean/washed with fabric softener

3.) Car`s paint surface is too hot - Try to wax only when it`s cool out or give it extra time to haze.

4.) Did not turn towel/change towels often enough

5.) Didn`t allow enough time to haze - I used to use Zymol Carbon and I found out that allowing 30 minutes or so to haze made it much much easier to remove.

6.) Didn`t buff enough - In the past I have given panels 3 passes...two by hand with clean towels each time and one with a machine buffer.
