I am about to order a PC and some accesories for it and want to know if the following are what I need.

Porter-Cable 7424 with Free Bonus Kit (http://www.coastaltool.com/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/a/port/pr7424.htm?L+coastest+rqtf8107ff47bc47+1057638767) $120

Porter Cable Accessory Kit (http://www.properautocare.com/porcabackit.html) $60

Which Includes:

One 6 inch Velcro Back-up Plate

One 6 inch Lambswool Pad

One Yellow Cutting Pad

Two white polishing pads

One gray finishing pad

Two 6 inch terry bonnets for buffing.

Microfiber Bonnet (http://www.properautocare.com/vipmicbonfor.html) $8

Cable Cover (http://www.properautocare.com/montailcorco.html) $10

3 Pack of MicroFiber Clothes 16 x 16 (http://www.properautocare.com/vipmicdetclo.html) $15

Is there anything else that I am missing? Please let me know if this will do fine. This is just for personal use so I dont need more then 1 or two pads because I can wash them. Thanks in advance.

Based on my experiences, here`s what I think:

Skip the Accessory Kit and buy the pads individually. You prolly will never use the wool pad or the terry bonnets. I can`t think of a single person here who`s used them with any regularity.

Instead buy a minimum of two (2) yellow advanced foam pads and two white polishing pads. See them here: http://www.properautocare.com/adfoampadfor.html

These are the best pads CMA sells IMO and are well regarded by Autopians.

If you are going to use a glaze or one step, get at least one grey finishing pad. Otherwise, skip it.

The yellow and white finger pads are nice too so consider adding one of those to your order.

The orange Power Pad has got some really good reviews here. It seems to be between a yellow and a white in terms of performance. You might want to add one or two of those as well.

Skip the microfiber bonnets unless you have a specific need for them. They`re another thing that rarely, if ever, gets discussed as no one uses them.

Don`t forget the velcro backing plate.

$5 each for microfiber towels is pretty pricey. Have a look at what www.Autofiber.com is selling MF`s for. I`ll bet you could save a few $$ buying a kit from them plus Ian offers free shipping. Also check out www.pakshak.com. Ranney also offers free shipping in the US and Canada.

Hope all this helps. Welcome to the world of the PC.
