Ok... you seem like a nice enough crowd, so please don`t flame.

What tool do I need to remove the 5" counterweight from my PC so I can put the 6" one on???

Thanks!

Quoting Mmmph

The Coastal Tools deal is great. You`ll love the #18002 6" contour hook and loop pad that comes with the 7424. BTW that discount is just enough to pay for the T15 Torx driver needed to change counterweights.

Ok... I have the 6" hook and loop pad. Can I purchase the T15 Torx driver at any home depot?

They should. Home Depot is the does all in the tool corral. At least to me. So many tools. Ask a Home Depot customer service person.

I would just buy a combination screwdriver or bit set with a T15 bit included. Then you don`t have this T15 screwdriver lying around that you`d need once every 10 years. :p

Just to note, one person has reported getting a PC with T20 screws though. Another reason to just get a set of bits instead.

Great advice... this will also greatly increase my chances of finding this thing.

It`s not hard to find a set of Torx drivers. Available at virtually any tool place/department like Target KMart, Sears, Farm King, TSC.....whatever is close to you.

Don`t worry about it, easily found at at home center with tools ...

Stupid counterweight??? Easy there, that`s a whole lot of anger...

Please note that my post regarding the Torx driver was in direct reference to the Coastal Tool deal that was offered. I offered that post because my 7424 came from Coastal Tool. The documentation that came with my 7424 said T15, and I used the T15 to change my counterweight.

The last line of text regarding the 7424 on Coastal Tool`s web site says: "One final point about counter-weights. The units currently shipping from Porter-Cable use T15 Torx Screws to hold the counter-weights in place."

Here`s the link for the quote above and the screencap below. (http://www.coastaltool.com/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/a/port/skinny.htm?L+coastest+cjcd5038ff151515+1056848525)

WOW... I really appreciate all of the help here.

I was able to obtain a T15 torx drill bit this morning (a T10 and T15 bit came in a pack for only $2 at Home Depot... SCORE!). I came home and it worked perfectly!!!!

At this point in the day I have washed my car with Dawn, TWICE, and clayed the car between washings... now I`m about to go remove some swirls out of my nice black car. Lets only hope I don`t make it worse!
