I was just wondering, how come you never see sealants come in paste form? Is it possible to get a sealant into a paste form? Maybe I`m thinking too much.....

I`ve never seen any.

Several were made in the 1980`s. I remember Meguiars and Blue Poly both made paste polymer sealants. There may have been others.

I dont think it is possible to get a true sealant in paste form. This is relating to the chemistry at my place of work so I may be off base but I think its all pretty transferable.

The polymer is like a plastic that crosslinks as part of its non-reversible reaction, be it with heat or oxidation. This is its "paste" form. Any mechanical energy that you subsequently administer to it will disrupt the previously formed bonds. So theoretically I dont think a paste sealant with any aspirations of extended longevity is a commercial possibility.

Although dont quote me, I could be wrong! :-p

You know, as wild as that sounds, it seems to make sense. How can you patch a hole in the wall with dried up compound?. I might be wrong, but thats how I see it. Molecular crosslinking is key when using any sealer. I think you might be right on that one, a paste just wount cut it

actually i think you could make one really thick, not like a paste, but it would be really hard to use:dunno

Is Nu-finish a sealant? Nu-Finish is available in paste form.

We would have to ask the resident expert--Big Ron. By the way I hope Big Ron doesn`t bring the hammer down on you for saying his product is not real.:lmfao

Terry from CMA was trying to work with Blackfire on developing a paste sealant. I haven`t heard anything about it since they started pushing the Menzerna line.
