Hello everyone,
I recently went to this detailing shop and one of the services they offered was to completely remove wrinkles off the leather seats. I took my car there to get washed last year and I was amazed at the jobs I saw. First I saw the leather seats full of wrinkles and then they were completely gone. I didn`t see how they did, just the before and after. It was like plastic surgery for your seats!!! Now I would like to have it done to my car but they closed down.

I asked around and nobody knows how it could be done, except the jokes ..... oh just use a blow drier on them and they should shrink kind of talk, but I don`t dare to try it on my car.

Anyone here knows how to remove the wrinkles?

Well, I`ve heard they are removed using a heat gun, I think there was actually a thread on this a few months back started by Nick, try doing a search on it.

I have experience in upholstery and what I have done in the past when installing new leather seats is to set the seats out in the sun and it will expand. I am just assuming you are talking about leather seats and if so most leather seats are only leather on the portion you sit on. The outer portion of the seats and headrest are usually vinyl. If you have wrinkles or creases in this area then you can take the covers off and steam them to work out any imperfections. However, DO NOT steam the leather because it will ruin it.

As far as your suggestion for the hair dryer, I would not trust that method to much because you may over heat an area. Hope this helps!:)

Are we talking about wrinkles, or cracks in the leather`s coating. I know that cracks can be filled, and the leather can be re-coated, but wrinkles removed? I would say that the leather would have to be restretched or something.

How we did it for close-up advertising shots of new vehicles.....

We stretched the seats to the max, smoothing out the wrinkles. Then, out of view of the camera, we used ultra high tech C-47 clamps (http://extranet.mole.com/public/index.cgi?cmd=view_item&parent=1434-1565-1068&id=5592).

xan021, those look like seats from a GMC Denali or Yukon. I get a lot of Yukon`s and they all have wrinkles on the seats. I would like to know how to remove the wrinkles out of seats also. I think the post they`re talking about is.....http://www.detailcity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3402&highlight=seat+wrinkles.....I tried it, but I didn`t find that it worked all that well. It did clean the seats though. But if anybody has any other suggestions I would like to know.

I did a google on this topic and came up with this solution for a couch . Hey leather is leather give it a try .

Q: I HAVE A BEAUTIFUL LEATHER SECTIONAL LIVING ROOM SET AND IT`S FULL OF WRINKLES. IS IT POSSIBLE TO REMOVE THE WRINKLES FROM THE SOFA?

A: FOR YOUR ANSWER WE CALLED CHUCK RODDY, A LEATHER REPAIR AND REFINISHING EXPERT WHO RUNS LEATHERMEDIC.COM. THE LEATHER-MEDIC SAYS WRINKLES ARE CAUSED WHEN LEATHER STRETCHES, AND YES, THEY CAN BE REMOVED WITH THE HELP OF A HAIRDRYER.

HE SAYS USE HIGH HEAT AND SMALL CIRCLES AND HEAT THE WRINKLED AREA UNTIL THE LEATHER BEGINS TO SHRINK BACK TO ITS NORMAL STATE.

If you look really close at wrinkles like the ones in the picture, the vinyl coating is really cracked. I know that Leatherique makes crack filler to fill in the cracks.
