View Full Version : Different wax for different parts?

Have any of you thought about putting different waxes/sealers on different parts of the car? For instance, the horizontal parts (hood, roof, etc.) get more sun, higher temps than the sides. OTOH, the sides get more crap thrown up from the road, and probably require different protection.

Suggestions? It would seem that polymers would be better for the high temperature surfaces, and maybe waxes for the sides?

Thanks.

I`d think the products that are good at offering UV protection are tough enough to hold up to whatever gets kicked up on the sides. A sealant is gonna whup a wax in both scenarios, I think.

I use the same products on my whole truck -- polish followed by a wax or sealant. In the summer I will give the hood and top and extra coat every so often-- just a second coat of wax or sealant. On my wheels which are polished aluminum, I frequently will use a cleaner wax to get rid of the crud and oxidation.
