first!

All I have detail wise is leftover zaino from the previous car.. nothing that would help here (Z1, Z2, ZFX and QD)

I`m going to get the full blackfire kit and a PC.... but the car (2 days old!) has some light swirl marks and a rub on the fender where a chunk of retread hit me on my way home :(

What do you recomend for removing these?? tips/tricks or step by step somewhere? I`ve never removed swirl marks or used a PC before!

Also... the front has a full clear bra on it which also has a few light swirls.... what do I use to remove those and care for the bra? Do I blackfire it with the rest of the car? Is it safe to use stuff like bug and tar remover and whatnot on it?

There are a few deeper scratches on the car (near the gascap and then a couple on the roof) Whats the best way to remove or hide these? I`m not sure how deep they are just yet... I need to go feel with a fingernail.

We have a heavy dust problem here (garaged or not.. but i`m not) Whats the safest way to remove dust without creating more swirls and without having to wash the car daily?

Cosmoline... whats the best way to remove it? It seems to leak the worst from the rear fenderwells and streak back all over the rear of the car.

What leather cleaner would you recomend? It has vanilla leather (light tan) and I`ve been warned that Denim will stain it (I wear jeans alot)

and last question... Audis seem to produce a ton of brake dust... whats the best way to prevent this buildup or at least make it easier to clean off?? I planned on some P21s gel or Griots wheel cleaner to clean with.. but would like to make in between maintenence easier.

I want to keep my new baby spotless and perfect!!!

sorry for all the stupid noob questions.... and thanks in advance for the help!

Nice ride, Looks like you have a lot of searching (search button) to do......

If it was smaller and could fit in to one of those I would think about gettin one :)

ok wow... there is just WAY too much info out there!!! and alot of it contradictory lol!

at least on the swirl removal!

So does this sound ok??

I might go ahead and just do the blackfire with the PC and perhaps a yellow compounding pad and see if perhaps the swirls are light enough for the polish to remove them that way.

If they show back up after the blackfire wears down then I was thinking of trying the Menzerna Intensive Polish? At least that way I could get familiar with the PC before jumping into a compound and screwing something up.

Or should I just go ahead and go over it with the Menz. and get it over with?

Hey Blu,

Welcome aboard.

What products do you currently at your disposal?

For maintaining the leather, a simply cleaner is a diluted concentration of woolite. I don`t have leather seats but Scottwax uses it and claims it works very well as do a couple of other members. Do you know if the leather is coated or not? If it is, then use 303 which has a lot of UV protection and a nice matte finish (factory look). Zaino also makes a good leather line as does Pinnacle from what is mentioned around here. If it isn`t cleared, then something like hide food, leatherique etc. work really really well.

Since you car isn`t a garage queen. Consider going the sealant route for protection rather than a wax. Zaino would look awesome on the ocean TT! Klasse would also look the bees knee`s on that colour.

Invest in some good quality microfiber towels. You`ll probably want at least 10 to start.

For Swirls etc.

Consider Vanilla Moose or SEPC to start, then working your way up the abrasive ladder would Swirl Free Polish from Meguiars or 3M`s Finishing Glaze and Dual Action Cleaner Polish or 3M`s Machine Glaze and then a Fine Cut.

You mentioned a PC, do you happen to have one? If so, all the better.

When washing, use the 2 bucket method described here with 2 or 3 100% cotton wash mitts or 100% lambswool.

For the wheels, use a sealant on them as wax will wear away quickly.

For the clear bra, try Plexus, Novus or Meguiars plastic cleaner in a small hidden area and see how it works out. It`s marketed as the maintainence being equivalent to paint but I`d take it a bit more caution when polishing it.

To minimize water spot etching, use distilled water on the rinsing portion of the wash. Search around for a the use of a garden spray technique.

Nice pic by the way.

Beautiful car!

Audi`s happen to have one of the nicest paint jobs, so it`s no wonder you want to maintain it! I agree, Zaino would look awesome on that color! Since you already have some, why not try it??

I`d definitely used Zaino for the wheels. Since I`ve started that, it`s been a breeze cleaning them! And they look good for a lot longer(they resists dust buildup!:xyxthumbs ).

For the bra, I`d just wax/seal it just as you do the rest of the car!

Good luck and have fun with that ride!!

Nice car and BEAUTIFUL pics, ALL of them including the last one!:bow :bow :bow

Why are you going to get Blackfire if you`ve got leftover Zaino?

I would treat the clear bra with a polymer sealant just like you would the car.

You can get P21S wheel cleaner but a cheaper and just as effective wheel cleaner that I use is the Eagle One A2Z in the orange bottle. Make sure it is the orange bottle as that is basic and not an acidic cleaner like the first generation. After getting them clean, I put sealant on the wheels like 3 coats of Z2 to make it easier to clean off the brake dust on future washings. Don`t use wax here even if you wax the car because the heat will deteriorate away the wax quickly. After using sealant, I don`t have to and don`t want to use wheel cleaner afterwards when I wash the car because it may strip off the sealant. I find the brake dust on my 350Z (just as bad as German cars for brake dust) comes off quite easily afterwards with just Z7 car wash or Quick & Easy Wash (QEW).

The leather appears to be a coated one so I would try 303 protectant on it along with the rest of your dash for UV protection.

I can`t answer the Menzerna questions or the scratches since I don`t have any scratches to deal with yet. But why does your new car have scratches in it?

thanks guys!

I do have some zaino left... but very little... I`m out of alot of stuff AND I got tired of messing with the ZFX (mixing and then trying to clean out the bottles) So I just wanted to try something new.

The car does have a few light swirls.... I`d liken the look to having some micro thin strands of spider web stuck to the car
