Well, lets see, where to begin. I have not posted anything on Autopia in . . . well, lets just say a really long time. Much has happened since I posted last, but that is for another day.

On to the real issue. I had a Thule roof rack on my car over the winter (to tote my skis around), and it had a wind deflector that went on in front of the rack to reduce the wind noise. Well, after taking the rack off a few months ago, I saw a big line on the roof.

The line does not look like it is embedded in the paint, but I cannot seem to get it up. I have tried claying the roof, and no luck. It looks like the film that develops on your car after it is driven in the rain (road salt, grime, etc.). Not really sure how to approach this one.

Let me know where to go from here. Possible suggestions are appreciated.

Best regards,

MarylandVW

Have you tried a paint cleaner or mild polish?

If its a stain, or light marring, that may help it.
