I am not sure how they did it but I would be a little scared to touch it!

Looks like vinyl, kind of like the advertisements you see on city busses.

The white paint still showing on the bottom of the fender flares gives it away.

A little off the subject but how do you properly care for vinyl such as that? My friend has a 99 Mustang GT 35th Anerversary (sp) edition and they all have a vinyl stripe coming down from the hood scoop. He is stationed in Kuwait right now and I was going to detail his car for him before he got back next month.

I detail a Ferrari used on the Ferrari Challenge and was there the day they applied the vinyl decals. The guy who made and printed them told me that there is, at least on the ones he was installing, a clear on them and in fact when applied properly they will look and even feel as though they are part of the factory paint job.

So I use a mild cleaner on the car (I buffed the paint before the decal application) and polish and wax right over them. Just be watchful of the edges because you 1) Don`t want to lift the edge and 2) You don`t want wax build up either. Just avoid using a abrasive cleaner and all should be fine.
