I have spent a few weeks haunting these hallowed halls in search of information and wanted to post my results.

Background: NEW vehicle, two days old.

Budget: Slight. The wife is a hater when it comes to "dumb guy stuff"

Products: Zymol car shampoo, sheepskin mitts, nylon brush, Nu Finish polymer wax, S100 wax, Pakshak MF towels, Pakshak waffle weave drying towel, Mothers Clay.

Action: I actually got to peel off the plastic at the dealer, they did zero prep as per my request. I did a Dawn wash with the mitt. I clayed the car using Zymol shampoo. Not much residue to speak of so I could have skipped this step. Zymol wash with mitt. I applied Nu Finish to the car. I know there are some Nu Finish haters out there, but I chose it because it`s one step, really cheap, and lasts a long time compared to the other polymers. I did take the precaution of making sure none of it got on the trim as I heard this is a "problem" with Nu Finish. I noticed zero shine improvement with this product. This took 4 hours total.

Day 2 brought about a Zymol shampoo and a nice coat of S100. I did half and half on the hood to see if there was a difference at first. The S100 side appeared different than the plain Nu Finish side. I can`t quite describe how it was, but it was better. Not a huge difference though, but there was one. This took 2 hours.

Products that stand out:

S100 is incredibly simple and easy to apply. I think you could let it sit for days and wipe it off. Using it on a hot day would probably be a no-no. It melted just by the heat of my hand.

The Pakshak MF towels are the best invention ever! If you don`t have/get some you are REALLY missing out. They get into all the nooks and crannys without your even trying. They did a great job getting all those tough spots that normally would require a toothbrush or "towel twisting" to reach. Those fibers really reach!

The Pakshak WW drying towel is SUPER. I think it works best already dry myself. It did the entire car with no wringing after using the final "no nozzle rinse" method.

My thanks for all you Autopians for sharing your knowledge even though most of my info was gleaned using that dreaded search feature! The stuff I learned here enabled me to have excellent results by using quality products and methods. Once I get this down to a science, the times will surely fall and it will get easier.

Nice job and ride! I know just what you mean about the search feature. I reserached for about 2 weeks before I ever posted. This site is great!
