Hi all, new to detailing (well after reading this forum and realised that autoglym polish and SEC just isn`t the best), so following the advice i`ve bought some S100. Now i`ve got a question, i`d plan to wash my car twice, with 2 buckets, apply S100 paint cleanser, polish (which?) and finish with 2 coats of S100, now would it be benfiticial to apply the Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection or will it wreck hours of work?

cheers

:welcome Monk.

Autoglym Extra Gloss probably wont bond very well to the S100, being a sealant.

Its best to apply a couple of coats of EG after a coat of Super Resin.

Then you slap on the S100 to your hearts content:)

thanks for the welcome Nick, recognize you from the hondarevoloution board;) , so you think i should use the super resin, 2xExtra Gloss and finish with S100?? i was planning to throw the autoglym stuff away, won`t a S100 SEC, #7 then S100 gives a better shine? so confused but want to give my black clio that deep/wet/mirror look

Hi monk

I currently do a similar routine to what you are planning but after your #7 i have two layers of Extra Gloss then p21s.

This is on a Black Zafira and it gives a deep wet look.

When the EG runs out i will change to the #98

Monk - the main purpose of Super Resin and Extra Gloss is their level of synthetic protection, which is much higher than that of normal carnauba waxes.

This kind of protection is especially important on the wheels, which see quite a hammering.

I currently do a combination of clay, #9 Megs Swirl Remover, Super Resin, Extra Gloss (2 max), Blitz and S100.

I have (what I consider) the perfect shine on red.

This sounds like a lot of steps, but bear in mind that after you apply the SR, you can apply the other things in consecutive weeks :bigups

Btw - pie has mentioned using #7 before EG, but I`m not so sure EG will bond properly to #7. Its designed mainly to work with Super Resin beforehand, although it can be used on its own.

Sorry my post is a bit confusing i dont use #7 but i have no probs with EG bonding P21S Paintwork Cleansing Lotion.

I was trying to point out that if you use #7 and s100 the only place for eg is in between the two:xyxthumbs

Out of curiosity - how much are you guys paying for the S100 here in the UK?

If you read the bottle of EG it suggests 30 mins to a couple of hours, but if you trawl the website then you will see they suggest leaving it for as long as possible but at least a few hours, so overnight is best.

Thanks for the S100 price Monks - I phoned my nearest Harley dealer and they charge £16.99, so a bit pricey but only £1 to post (they are not really that close!) so probably swings and roundabouts in the end. Next time I obviously need to shop around a bit more :D

is this honda-R exiles;) I think I`ll have to get some S100 to go ontop of the Blitz then.

Which S100 do you use? I found this site http://www.iauto.co.uk/pages/motorcycle.htm selling S100 product but it`s only £6.59 forPaintwork and Plastic 200 ml so is this the wrong stuff?
