This is my buddy`s 99 Dodge Ram that has some major paint issues on his cab. Is this paint oxidation? Is there anything that can be done to correct this beside repaint, DACP, 3M FI-III? Any suggestions?

Great pictures. Those really help. For one, I don`t think that is oxidation. It looks like clear coat failure to me. Not much you can do for it. You can go after it with a machine and polish out as much as you can, but that area is never going to have an OEM shine to it again. Its pretty far gone. For a 99 that is terrible. He must have been parking under some seriously acidic stuff to get that bad so quickly. I`ve never seen a car look so bad so quickly.

I agree and call clearcoat failure. :( What is that dark stuff that looks like coffee grinds? Rust?

It never hurts to try polishing of course, but it doesn`t look good....

I`d be interested in seeing if the 3M One Step Cleaner Wax Medium Oxidation Remover (http://www21.3m.com/dr/v2/ec_MAIN.Entry10?xid=28181&SP=10023&PN=1&V1=267744&DSP=&CUR=840&PGRP=0&CACHE_ID=69778) can do anything for that, but I`d be inclined to agree that it looks like a repaint is needed. I`ve seen that problem on my Mom`s car and it needed a repaint.
