So I`m going to be detailing two cars tomorrow. A black and a white 97 MX-5. The white has been neglected, except for washing, and the black is mine, so it`s pretty clean, but it`s black, so it`s swirled and such...

I have:

SMR

SEC

IHG

S100

Mothers QD

and a whole box of just opened mf`s...

Where does the SEC fall into the mix here? Do I have the order right?

Any tips for using the SMR by hand? I won`t have access to electricity, so using a RO is out...

Thanks!

blackntan,

Sounds good to me. Is the SEC the S100/P21S paint claeaner/polish? If it is, check it out after the SEC to see how it looks. You may be able to just top with wax at that point if it looks good.

Let us know how they came out.

Cheers,

I agree with what Amp99 said.

Depending on how neglected the white car is, I suggest you have a stronger polish on hand just incase the SMR is not enough. Something like DACP or FCRC maybe. SMR by hand is pretty mild in my experience and won`t budge anything more than "light" swirling in any reasonable amount of time.

Not much I can give tip-wise other than to do your polishing on a cool surface, make sure you work the product long enough, and make sure you use enough product but not too much. Good luck!
