View Full Version : Questions on sealants (SG/AIO/EX) for a new vehicle.

I have been reading through some current posts and archives and am a little confused. The products I am debating over are Klasse AIO and SG and Poorboys EX. At first I was under the impression that I should use all 3 with a carnuba topper to achieve the best look on a black car. Now after reading some more I have some questions.

On a new car is AIO needed? Or since the finish is new can I use the SG after a claying and achieve the same results?

Is poorboys EX a sealant in the same class as Klasse and Zaino? I read about many people layering it over Klasse? Would the Klasse be needed?

My options are confusing me. I don`t want to blow any extra cash I don`t need to but will purchase what is neccasary. I have considered all of the following options at one time or another but I can find a thread that will confuse me into one of the others. Some of the reasoning behind some of the options are EX gets a carnuba like depth, AIO is to help prep paint, I see people layering everything. No one has really stated the durability of the EX.

Option 1

layer:

AIO

SG

EX

Carnuba

Option 2

Layer:

SG

EX

Carnuba

Option 3

Layer:

SG

EX

Option 4

Layer:

SG

Carnuba

Option 5

Layer:

EX

Carnuba

Option 6

Layer:

AIO

SG

Carnuba

Option 7

EX alone

This thread is as unorganized as I am. Im sorry for the messed up post but I really am confused about what I need to get this done right without tossing cash out the window.

All opinions and comments will be appreciated.`

Thanks in advance.

If you are worried about tossing cash out the window then detailing is not for you... ;)

I have not used Poorboys EX so i cant say anything about it.

But I have used the twins. I get great results doing:

1 application of AIO (sometimes two)

3-6 Layers of SG (depending on what i feel like)

Then i top with S100 (if you want durability I`d top with #26 but thats just me)

If your car is new and has never been clayed then it might be a good idea to do so. Cars get all sorts of crap on them during transportation.

Hope that Helps,

Erick

snapdemon,

I vote for the EX topped with carnauba for black.

If your black paint is in great condition I would use 3-5 layers of EX applied 24 hrs. apart followed with a topper of Souveran or P21S wax.

If your black paint needs a light polish, use P21S/S100 GEPC/SEPC first, then the layers of EX and then the Carnauba topper.

Here are a couple of pics my jet black BMW with 3 layers of EX applied 24 hrs. apart, topped with Souveran wax.

another vote for EX.

it`s a sealent with no cleaning capability so you need to clean your paint before adding it for perfect finish now since your paint is new, i would recommend clay it to remove any embedded particles then use very mild polish like the one AMP99 sugested to remove any marks from the clay and to prep, shine the finish then EX.

or if you go the klasse route it seems option 6 is good + clay.
