Here`s the problem:

It appears as though someone left a heavy pointed object on the leather seat, leaving a couple of indentions in the seat face leather. I`ve done one treatment with Surflex leather "soffener" and made some improvement.

Any ideas are much appreciated. By the way, I`m a first time poster, and have found this to be among the friendliest of boards.

Thanks.

I got this same problem on my living room chair. I will have to try that softener stuff. Thanks and good luck!

This worked for me once a long time ago on a leather easy chair: I used a hair dryer to warm the leather in the area of the dent and then massaged in a lot of conditioner (don’t have a clue as to what kind it was), heated again and massaged some more. Then used the vacuum cleaner’s suction very carefully - wrapped my hand around the wand to control the vacuum) - and carefully lifted the dent. Then lightly rubbed the dent area with an ice cube to harden the conditioner and hopefully the leather would “remember†it’s shape. Waited for a day or two before buffing off the excess conditioner. This didn’t completely remove the dent, but was maybe 80% - 90% effective.

Good luck! <IMG SRC=http://home.jps.net/~ntaylor/images/finger-cross.gif>

Unfortunately, these deformities are not a covering (leather) problem but a supporting structure deformity. Complete alleviation of the deformity requires repairing ( reforming) the stuffing material that is supporting the covering. This maybe very difficult because of the sealed system ( seat cushions). If one can correct the support structure ( foam in most cases) the leather deformity will correct itself.

You might drop by an automobile interior shop and squeeze ( please excuse the pun;) ) out some of their secrets for this repair. :wavey
