Subject says it all. I have a black car and recently did SEPC + S100 and need to add something to the formula to get rid of the scratches and swirl marks.

TIA!

Meguiars Swirl Free Polish? It part of the Bodyshop Pro line and only comes in quart sizes. You can get it at a place right off of I-35 and Johnson Drive. Take that exit, head west 1 block after the tracks, make a right (the light bulb place), and it should be right there. I got all my Meguiars stuff from them, even though I drive 30-45 minutes to get there. I live a few minutes from Metro North Mall.

Ive had wonderful results with 3M SMR for dark cars.....It does a decent job filling and polishing.....If cleaned prior to using (clay, paint cleanser, SMR), then S100, i would expect nothing short of fabulous !! Also a sidenote, I work by hand.......

I am real believer (after much trial and error with several products) in Meg`s DACP with my PC and a cutting pad. On my black car, it worked wonders- not a swirl or light scratch to be found.

To see what the results look like, go to the Professional Detailers forum and look for my thread with pics: Results: DACP, #9, #7, and P21S.

Good luck :xyxthumbs

Detailed my car last night. I had some nasty swilrs from a wacky rotary job gone bad (not me). Used FI II with a yellow pad followed by SMR with a white pad. Worked wonders, glossy finish, no swirls in sight.

I do everything by hand, so what would be the best product to appy with this method? Also, sorry to get off topic - but how much would a good pc cost?

PC = Porter Cable = Brand of tool

You can get the PC 7336 at Lowes for $109 plus tax. Scottwax does everything by hand and he seems to have no problem getting rid of swirls. All you need is some elbow grease.

hi blake, I`m on the same situation as yours. I wanted to do everything by hand - reason 1, dont want to spend $$ on PC, reason 2, I can`t really trust on PC.

But after reading all msg from members, it`s really good investment. I have time so polishing by hand for like 6 hrs is not problem but 30min vs 6hrs, I think I`m going to get PC. and I have back problem so 6hrs job might kill my back.

Also outcome using PC is better and easy (I dont think I can be like Scott since I`m beginner).

$109 from Lowes, PC 7336sp + all other accessories around $50 = $150-200. Before I thought it`s expensive but now I think it`s good investment and I expect I would get what I pay for.

I can`t wait to get one for myself. (I think I got autopia disease  )

For doing all by hand, I heard Swirl free is good product.

FI-II - 3M Finesse IT line usually means their white finishing compound but there is also a rubbing compound

Thanks for all the help everyone! I will definately look into purchasing a pc this summer, when my time and money permits it (Yes, I was infected with the Autopia Disease also). Until then, does anyone know where the cheapest place I may purchase the 3M SMR is?

Thanks for all the great advice!
