I am going to detail a car that has sheepskin seatcovers. The nap seams matted and not soft. I have seen seatcovers that are new and they are soft and fluffy.

Anyone have any ideas how to clean these to get the nap to stand up and make them soft again?

Thanks

Have it dry cleaned. If you try and shampoo it, the covers will smell like a wet dog. I don`t clean them for that reason.

I agree with Scott, dry clean them, I learned my lesson trying to clean them myself, I agree with the wet dog comment!

To my surprise, I found an OLD can (1984) of TW Sheepskin Cleaner and Conditioner at my grandmother`s house! It says lanolin fortified, and leaves a silicone shield against dirt.... I wonder if this stuff exists in some other form these days?

Take them off and put them in a clothes dryer on a cool setting. Put a clean sneaker in with them as this will help fluff them up.
