<IMG SRC=http://home.jps.net/~ntaylor/images/help.gif> Although Vanilla Moose is called a “Hand Glaze” the Clearkote (http://clearkote.net/products.htm) site says that it is used “ to remove those `Spider Web Scratches` that are induced during washing or drying.” Is it a glaze with fillers that hides marring, or is it a polish with abrasives that removes marring, or is it both? <IMG SRC=http://home.jps.net/~ntaylor/images/confused.gif>

<IMG SRC=http://home.jps.net/~ntaylor/images/help.gif> The Clearkote (http://clearkote.net/products.htm) site also says that Moose Wax is “an excellent cleaner/wax used to remove oxidation”, and that it is “used to remove scratches”, but it also says that Moose Wax “contains no abrasives”. Sounds contradictory to me. Does it hide marring or remove marring? <IMG SRC=http://home.jps.net/~ntaylor/images/confused.gif>

I’ve done several searches and read close to a gazillion posts about Clearkote’s products, and almost all are extremely positive - especially in reference to Quik Shine. Right now I’ve got too many irons in the fire to order their $60 Show Special at this time, but I’d really like to know more about these products.

I can tell you this, I just started using the VM glaze and it is sick, it leaves the paint slick and wow what a reflection on dark cars.

I tend to find out that the better you clay the car the more slickness you will get with the VM glaze.

As for the quickshine, that works very well also. I am not sure but it seems to enhance the shine a little as well. But then again after detailing outside the car gets a little dusty so when i wipe it down it looks shiny again.

I have not tried the Wax yet so I cant give me opinion on that.

I think the products are great when used the right way. They go on easy and come off real easy, even in sunlight.

Vanilla Moose has very light abrasives in it to remove light scratches and swirls. I`d say it is between a glaze like Meguairs #7 and a swirl remover like #9 in aggressiveness. It has a lot of oils in it for a real deep wet shine and will protect the paint for 90 days (according to the website). Since I normally top Vanilla Moose, I can`t really comment on how durable it is.

Moose Wax has light chemical cleaners in it and oils that fill and add shine. If you have swirls or scratches, it is better to use Vanilla Moose prior to Moose Wax. It will remove surface scratches like when someone`s paint is transfered to yours, but it won`t really remove scratches into your paint, but it fills them.

This is how they look together...and I did this in the sun on a 70 degree day:

And this is a BMW that I only used Moose Wax on (Vanilla Moose hadn`t been invented at that point!).:

Actually, I did major in photography, but the $315 a week Jack in the Box offered me to move up to assistant manager (1985?) sounded a lot better than 2 years at East Texas College in the tiny town of Commerce. I was going nuts in Denton (population about 45,000) and knew that a town of 8,000 would be worse....and by then, I realized most photographers make very little money. Oh well....

So is it really usefull or useless to use the two products together?? It seems like vm will buff the swirls a little and fill them in with some glaze, but it sounds like mw will remove the oils b/c it is a cleaner and also remove some swirls... sounds like your doing the same with either product, but the vm has fillers????

Scottwax, what kind of topper do you usually use over vm or mw? I am thinking of P21 or s100??

I am not sure how VM and MW work together, but they do. What VM removes, stays removed (or filled) when you top it with MW.

S100 in the shade and Moose Wax in the sun.

I have no idea, it isn`t mine. The limo is kept at a storage facility and they hose was being used by maintenance to clean out some new storage units they just finished building.

Does MW provide any protection though? If so, as long as say s100 or others? Sorry for the 1001 ?`s. MW definately doesn`t sound like its layerable since its a cleaner wax.... maybe just a good base coat before the final topper...

I used it on the hood of a Suburban a customer of mine has-he didn`t want me to wax it again since he was trading it in, but since he was going to have it another 3 months, I asked if I could try Moose Wax on the hood to see how long it lasts. When he traded it in 3 1/2 months later, the hood was still lightly beading. It got washed every two weeks by me and I don`t think he takes it through car washes because it usually is pretty dirty every two weeks.
