OK

First, we all know that there is no such thing as a perfect wax - and this is NOT to start any flames or product wars. This is an honest report from the car show and I found the results very interesting. I spoke to the owners of every trophy winner.

Second, there were no wax companies or distributors at the event and they did not sponsor the event in any way.

As mentioned in my ClearKote thread, 2 Divisions: F-Cars & Lambos. I posted some pics of my car already, so I`ll include some of the Lambos that also won and which wax they used.

Results:

Ferrari - 1st Place - Griot`s (!)

2nd - ClearKote (me)

3rd - Meguiars

4th - Meguiars

5th - Meguiars

(Note: some guys brought their detailers with them to the show and most the meg guys did 9/7/26)

Lambo

1st - Autoglym

2nd - Meguiars

3rd- Meguiars

4th - Meguiars

5th - Autoglm

Some Lambo pix below with the wax they used.

Enjoy

That`s really interesting. Autoglym doesn`t get much press here. Also, both Autoglym cars were black. Thank you for sharing that info and those pictures with us.

Crikey!

I never new Autoglym could look so good!

I think I`ll keep layering the Extra Gloss over the next few weekends then :D

Would be interesting to know what was used on the paint.

The Megs cars look fantastic too :xyxthumbs

Aurora40 -

I agree. I was surprised by all the Meg users also.

Funny, most of us probablly started with Meg. Then we all progressed with all the new technology of poly, acrelic, $1400 carbs, etc.

Then RedCarGuy did the post about Armor All...

Have we gone Full Circle in our detail lives and ended up just about in the same place we started....? Hmmmmm

Funny you should say that F355 :(

Detailed a friends car yesterday with his own `consumer` megs polish and wax, and I couldnt help thinking it looked excellent. Looked across at my car (which was being done as well) and thought hmmm... :nixweiss

The black lambo was wet sanded first. The guy who did it is going to come over my house this week and we are going to do my car together.....

i used autoglym to win my class at the "National" UK porsche concours and believe me I have never seen such a more professional event. Each car was judged by a team of 5, each

given a certain task. One assigned to just body condition and

preparation. The car in question was guards red, and looked

totally amazing when completed..... only took me 50 hours!

never again! but if i could bottle that moment when i won, well thats just say I was so pleased to beat cars professionally prepared. As a footnote, the overall winner , and it wasn`t Porsches UK factory entry, that came second.....screw heads on headlights not aligned, i kid you not.........was prepared by a paid "team" with a open cheque book from the owner. I dont

suppose it really mattered what wax was used on it......it was

straight out of the bodyshop! . . . . I judged after that!

have fun guys , mark
