I am buying the PC 7336 at a local lowe`s tonight. Cant find the 7224 anywhere.

Is there anywhere I can buy the accessories I need without going to the web?

I would assume I need the hook loop and yellow/white foam pads to start.

Thanks!

The main difference between the 7224 and the 7336 is the 7336 has the 6" counter weight as opposed to the 5" on the 7224. If you plan on using the 6" Meguiar`s or CMA pads (the general concensus around here) the 7336 will be fine.

As far as pads available locally in Pittsburgh, well good luck. I searched myself when I bought my PC and didn`t find much. I wanted the pads from CMA but didn`t want to pay the shipping or slightly higher cost of CMA. I even called Lake Country, the manufacturers of CMA pads to see if they had any local distributors. They asked where I had heard of their pads and I said they sell them at CMA. Well I got the impression they were VERY loyal to CMA but they were very kind and tried to help me find a local dist. No luck. I did some research myself and found a body shop in Millvale that may sell Meguiar`s pads and a shop in Erie (http://www.gjmillerauto.com/) that sells Lake Country pads. Apparently the CMA backing plate is specific to them and not made by Lake Country (at least according to the guy I spoke to). If you have any better luck let me know; I ended up buying the DM-KIT (http://www.properautocare.com/porcabackit.html) with the backing plate from CMA. A good beginners kit

Without going to the web... Well, I buy all my PC accessories through the web, but I know of a place in Wexford that can order a variety of things for the PC. Perhaps this is worth a call:

Woodworkers Warehouse

11030 Perry Highway, Wexford, PA 15090

(724) 934-4800

Good luck...:xyxthumbs

Does that thread tell him where to buy accessories in Pittsburgh?

Most of what I saw was for online vendors which he is trying to avoid.

Your best bet is probably a body supply store. They may have either 3M or Meguiar`s backing plates in stock. They were available locally in my area, but not at one store. The place that had the backing plate did not have the pads and vice versa. A few phone calls might save you a lot of driving. Be sure to specify that you need the 5/16" shaft backing plate and 6.5" pads. For commercial use, 8" pads are much more common.

You might want to try West Penn Laco. They have several stores in the Pittsburgh area, but the one I went to was on Mc Neilly Rd (412-563-2127), so I don`t know what the other stores are like. It`s a small store, but they had a nice selection of things you won`t find in Pep Boys, including Meguiar`s DACP, 3M pads, etc. There are stores in the following areas: East End (412-661-4648), Millvale (412-821-3608), North Side (412-321-1000), Moon (412-262-3010). Call one of the stores closest to you and see if they have what you might need.
