It`s time to winterize the Maxima. I know many are probably wondering why this was not done sooner. Simple. The weather here has been less than cooperative and this was the only window where I could get to use my friend`s detail shop.

Nevertheless, the Maxima is going to be in for a thorough cleaning inside and out. Here`s the plan of attack

Interior:

- Vacuum thoroughly

- pre-treat seats, fabric panels, and carpet with EF Spot Remover and Carpet/Upholstery cleaner

- Go over everything with the steam extractor

- Polish door sills

- Clean windows with Stoners Invisible Glass and MT

- Clean dash and vinyl with Lexol Leather Conditioner.

- Treat dash and vinyl with 303

- Scrub Mats with EF HI

Exterior:

- Wash vehicle with Dawn (Car has never been washed with Dawn)

- Clay with Clay Magic Bar

- Go over car with PC and DACP (Thanks, Bret)

- Go over car with AIO

- Coat with Sealant Glaze

- Polish Exhaust tips with Nevr-Dull

- Treat rims with Klasse Sealant Glaze

- Treat tires with Lexol Vinylex

- Go over taillight and headlight lenses with 3M Plastic cleaner and Plexus

- Polish glass with Z-12 (Thanks, Steve)

Trunk:

Thoroughly clean trunk out (this is to be done the night before)

Pics will be forthcoming

Can`t wait to see the pics!

And, can`t wait for you to do my Bonneville! (its freezing out here, so I imagine you will want to pick it up and drive it home, detail it-then deliver the final product!)

Are you going to use a carnauba topper on the SG? A little S100 action?

Why do you want to wash the car with Dawn? What function will it provide that the same routine with car wash won`t provide?

Yay! It`s Maxima winterizing time! :D

I`m letting my Klasse/wax (summer application) sit over the winter and see what`s left in the spring.

I did finally wax my wheels (so I could wash with QEW), even though I still couldn`t get them as clean as I`d like. :(

This Maxima has been waxed only and needs to have all layers of wax stripped off.

After the final coat of SG, I am going to Souveran it (I have a Maxima meet on 11/30 and she needs to show off a little. :D)

Well, but you are following the wash with claying, DACP, and then AIO. The dawn sounds unnecessary is all. But everyone has different feelings about dawn, so I don`t want to say don`t use it. I would just use a good paint-loving car wash, though. :)

The plans have been rescheduled due to weather. Tuesday`s forecast calls for temps to hit 18 at night. I am going to see if I can use it Wednesday when it will be much warner.

I am in discussions with the detail shop to discuss when I can come in and do this.

I forgot one step in my plan of attack. I need to clean some of the dirt off of my headliner. I will use EF Carpet and Upholstery Shampoo on a terry towel and scrub the crap off.

Heheh...

My Maxima winterizing routine consists of not bothering to wash it at all for the next 2 months. That will make for a total of 4 months with not a single drop of soap on the outside of the car...

Of course, I`m getting the whole car repainted at the beginning of February, so it`s all good :)

The interior will stay clean though.

But during the repainting process, you have to worry about overspray getting on the inside of the car because they have to spray the door jambs. :D

They aren`t going to spray the jambs. I`m getting the car painted over the same color...:xyxthumbs

After the last car wash, I did notice a few chips that need to be addressed before I tackle that detail. :D

Also, thanks to Bretfraz, I am going to check out DACP to get rid of the swirls. :D
